I agree - it's not as black and white as that. I don't believe any one country or region can claim accurately to be the greatest in the world. But once you move to a country and naturalize, I believe that should be your first country - even if you continue to have warm feelings for your previous country.
There are folks who move here and continue to dislike the country. I just find those people to be extreme hypocrites.

If for no other reason, any country that dresses their soldiers in bright red for their battle uniforms is definitely worth keeping an arms-length (and ocean width) away.
And the economic policies may have played a part in that Brexit, too.

At least if you view it in its idealised form. If you view it somewhat more realistically is just a land grab.
