I fixed the Win10 problems over the weekend.
I had recently reported ( Lounge: Win10 Again (sigh)[^] ) how Win10 had been consuming 100% disk causing me to be able to do nothing on my i7, 8GB laptop for 10 minutes at times.

I even wrote an article and updated an old program that allows you to watch everything that happens on your disk: Win10 : Examination of Disk Utilization (Includes DiscoFiles utility)[^]

But, finally, I have simply solved the problem by throwing hardware at it.
I bought a Samsung 850 EVO SSD (500GB)[^]
I cloned it using my toaster => Inateck Aluminium USB 3.0 to SATA Single Bay Hard Drive Docking Station for 2.5 & 3.5 Inch SATA I/II/III [^]
Popped the SSD into my laptop and booted up with no problems. Thumbs Up |
It all worked great and now my disk only gets to about 4% at any time.
No one cares about disk I/O any more. Big Grin | :-D

Everything is faster - web browsing, Visual Studio...everything!!!
