I'm coming in late on this discussion, but I was wondering if you looked at all at Windward? www.windward.net. Designer sits in MS office, so document formatting is as simple as using the office tools. Wizards connect to one or more data sources.

Just got a java update pushed to my computer. By default it was set to install ask.com's browser malware (aka the ask.com toolbar) and change the default search engine to a useless one (aka ask.com). 
I suspect the helpdesk is going to be busy the next few days. 
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

Seriously, does anyone actually use that toolbar? I remember getting it before as well. It is one of the reasons I have Automatic Java updates turned off.

Does anyone use any of the stupid toolbars rubbish software tries to install?
All they do to me is disincline me to use the rubbish software or the rubbish from teh company that pays them to install the damn toolbar. Frankly, I don't care if Ask is twice as accurate, helpful, and friendly as Google: I won't use it because they once paid some company to hijack my search engine.

Any company that bundles the same malware for years, and that keeps pushing it onto the system by having it install by default is clearly not interested in the users.
Disabling the updater would pose another security risk.
Removing Java from the machine fixed it.

Replacing all the corporate crapware that has a java dependency OTOH is a much bigger task. I'm sure IT longs for the day they can safely remove it from non-developer computers...

It SO pisses me off that when you go to install Java, it comes along with all this other crap. And they're not alone in this BS behavior. It's one of the reasons I never click on "default installation" but make sure that under the custom option, there's isn't a load of crap that I don't want it to install.

Not sure if anyone is interested or if the software is shite, but I got 10 licenses for AUD$19.22. It'd have to be spectacularly faarrrkkkked for me to feel like I got ripped off.

You can use FileLocator Lite or Agent Ransack for free. It's still worth it. The full version just adds a few more capabilities.

I'm just being a smart arse. I only bought FileSeek because of the cheap price going on Bits DuJour and then upped it to 10 licenses when I saw the multi purchase discount was added on top of the limited time special offer.
