I noticed that sometimes the messages posted counter doesn't update correctly. Has anyone else seen this?

what is the Soapbox done for then ?
it provides shovels and some sand for the CP kids, to avoid they go the the Lounge to fight.
No really, i don't see the point. The SoapBox totally fills its goal.

No. The soapbox is a great release valve. All that needs to happen is a few simple things. Some suggestions:
1. Make it opt-in. You don't even see the soapbox unless you opt-in on your profile.
2. Remove the ability to have HTML in the screen names (except for a few acceptable tags such as <b>, <sup> <i> etc.). Only unique names (after the HTML has been stripped out) would be permitted.
3. Allow people to set up ignore lists, so they don't have to even see posts by objectionable people. Maybe also a toggle to ignore replies to the objectionable person too. If this was available, I think I would have about a half-dozen people added to it. I'm all for freedom of speech, but it doesn't mean I have to listen.
Basically, I don't want to see the type of posts currently in the soap box put into the lounge - because that is where they will end up.

Rather than hiding posts, I'd prefer that they just be marked read automatically. Once you start hiding them threading gets all fubared.

Why? It would just have to remove the blocked user's post and any posts that branch off from it.
The only minor issue you might have is if someone refers to something you haven't read in another post/branch, you won't have any idea what they're on about.

If there's a troll around that basically translates to never seeing most of a large thread, and typically 2-5 posts down the tree the signal-noise ratio recovers.

I just recently attempted to change my Display Name for my account from 1tg46 to Thomas Stockwell. At first it seems like it has changed my information, but then it seems that TheCodeProject reverts back to 1tg46 when I am no longer logged in at TheCodeProject. I have also tried searching through for my articles after I switched my name (and while logged in) with the search bar but that only recognizes 1tg46 not the new display name.
Is this what is suppose to happen?

Advertising of programs that are not for public download and must be requested from an unknown personality does not seem right. The term 'never' is sufficient for the present time and future as their are thousands of other places that I can download tutorial information for free without having to be mailed. I will ask that you do not target me in particular for any such program of yours in the future. Please do not argue with what I have posted as I will not change my mind.

When I visit the CodeProject and I am logged in:
- I can visit my articles and the name appears to be changed on the actual article page
- If I try to search for my articles with the author name Thomas Stockwell nothing shows, but when I search for the author 1tg46 then the search results show my 4 articles
- My later posts still show as 1tg46 and newer posts show as Thomas Stockwell (this isn't really a problem for me but may help in finding the solution)
The main problem comes when I am not logged in and viewing the site from say a school computer:
- 1tg46 shows as the author for all my articles on the actual article page
- If I try to search for my articles with the author name Thomas Stockwell nothing shows, but when I search for the author 1tg46 then the search results show my 4 articles
- As far as I know my new posts still show as Thomas Stockwell and not 1tg46. My previous posts are still 1tg46, but that is still not a major problem
As said the main problem is that the articles author is not being changed to the new display name which is Thomas Stockwell. I am not to worried about all my previous posts to the forums still having the display name 1tg46, it is the articles that I would like to reflect my new display name.
Hopefully this helps explain my problem better.

It seems that my name Thomas Stockwell now shows on all of my articles while logged on or not, however if anyone searches for any of my articles they still need to query the author name 1tg46. Not sure if this is due to a fix or if TheCodeProject is no longer rejecting the new display name due to use of my account. Either way thanks.
