Hi,
I'm the author behind the xaml.net site referred to in this survey. I was interested to see such a large response. To be honest I didn't imagine that many people would be currently using XAML since it is primarily a Longhorn technology.
Nevertheless, I hope you find the site informative. Feel free to check out my upcoming book, "Network Programming in .NET with C# and VB.NET" (http://network.programming-in.net). Thanks again to the guys at code project!
Regards

More than half the people who voted have no idea what XAML is. I thought I was the only one who didn't

Ummmm. Ignorance is not really something to rejoice. However, now you've heard of it you can find out more about it and be ever bathed in the glow of knowledge.

Its just that it feels good to not be the only one in the dark. Anyway I have a long way to go since I've only been programming in windows for about a year now.

.. but we rolled our own version of an XML-based GUI. Our purpose was to get something that we could build a GUI with, but not be dependent on .NET, or even Windows (since we use wxWidgets, it would be possible to port our stuff to other platforms if necessary.)
The concept of an XML-generated GUI is a good one. But I'm not sure if we'll ever have a practical need for XAML.

As Mike Dunn points out, there is very little point in using XAML until Longhorn ships and our customers actually have it.
However can I (again) recommend you have a look at Marc Clifton's MyXaml[^]. This is XAML but useable today with the .NET framework.
I've been experimenting with it since the original Code Project article[^]
It takes a while to get to grips with but soon becomes a great way of building form based applications. It is now my tool of choice for building my business solutions.

Off-topic perhaps, but does Marc's MyXAML attempt to be compatible with Microsoft Longhorn XAML?
No. You can read my blog regarding why I'm not. Besides, I'm really not interested in a limited solution that works just for Longhorn, nor am I interested in duplicating the Avalon namespaces.
Unless Microsoft decides to do something devious, then MyXaml will work just as well with Avalon when it's finally official. In fact, imHo, it will work better, because it is a consistent markup, while the curren Microsoft XAML implementation is not.
