Our purpose was to get something that we could build a GUI with, but not be dependent on .NET, or even Windows (since we use wxWidgets, it would be possible to port our stuff to other platforms if necessary.) The concept of an XML-generated GUI is a good one. But I'm not sure if we'll ever have a practical need for XAML. However can I (again) recommend you have a look at Marc Clifton's MyXaml[^]. This is XAML but useable today with the .NET framework. I've been experimenting with it since the original Code Project article[^] It takes a while to get to grips with but soon becomes a great way of building form based applications. It is now my tool of choice for building my business solutions. No. You can read my blog regarding why I'm not. Besides, I'm really not interested in a limited solution that works just for Longhorn, nor am I interested in duplicating the Avalon namespaces. Unless Microsoft decides to do something devious, then MyXaml will work just as well with Avalon when it's finally official. In fact, imHo, it will work better, because it is a consistent markup, while the curren Microsoft XAML implementation is not. Perhaps in Europe, things are better. But in Latin America and eas Asia, things are not. In fact we have to continue to support old OSes (e.g., Windows 98) mostly becuase of that.
