Use int rather than char for the first 32 bits (all except the last 4 fields), and short rather than char for the rest.
It's a good idea to use the largest possible data type size when using bitfields (ie. favour ints/longs). If you need to prevent padding at the end, then by all means use the smaller data types (ie. short/char).
Also, be careful about using signed values in bitfields. Generally, it's a good idea to use unsigned values (eg. unsigned int) because then you can guarantee how the compiler will treat it. If the values are signed, then you have to know whether the compiler sign-extends or zero-extends the value when you're using it in an expression.

Hi,
i am using ADO Connection Strings from this page to connect to an access database. unfortunalty they just contain parameters for userID and user password
e.g.:
strConnection = _T("Driver={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)};"
"Dbq=C:\\VC Projects\\ADO\\Samples\\AdoTest\\dbTestSecurity.mdb;"
"SystemDB=C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft Office\\Office\\SYSTEM.mdw;"
"Uid=Carlos Antollini;Pwd=carlos");
the problem is that the database which i want to connect to is protected with a database password .
is there an other attitional connection string which has the database password as parameter?

By default, user id of an access database is "Admin", hence to open a password protected database, use:
"UID=Admin; PWD=your-password"

hmmm if i try like this:

the programm still cant open (m_DB.Open()) the database. are you sure there is no difference between database base password and user password?
if i set a database password and a user password and then i try to open the database from the win explorer, ms access asks me for both passwords ...
so i think i need a connection string which contains the databasepassword

You'll have to include the database password like so: "Jet OLEDB:Database Password=MyDbPassword;"

Hi,
I'd like to copy the selected text of any other application
with a system-wide-keyboard-shortcut automaticly to my application.
Should be working like in Babylon Translator.
Maybe someone can guide me to good starting point, or better has
some code that might help me.

well thats clear  , I like to copy the text, open my application and paste
this text automaticly. And also the other way round:
- press a hotkey
- my application copy's the text into clipboard
- go-back to the window where we came from
- paste the text
The problem is not to copy/paste to the clipboard. The problem is how to
hook the hotkey with my application, then go back to where the user came
from and copy the text into the clipboard. After that my program needs the
focus again and has to paste the clipboard content into my application.

There is no way to do that explicitly, read: nicely. A SWAG would be to somehow trigger a CTRL-C in the window.
Hmmm...
Using Win32 API you can get the active window, then you could send a keypressed message containing CTRL-C, and, hopefully, it would have triggered the app to copy something to the clipboard.

its bad, and its something I've already tried, its working with Notepad and
some other applications, but not with Excel, lets sys generaly

Hello,
I would like to add to my MFC dialog some kind of a ListCtrl, but with two columns. The background is that I have some attributes with names and values and I would like to display these dynamically in this list with the uneditable name of each attribute in the first column and the editable value in the second column.
Any ideas for that?

In my application I have setup a memory mapped area.
I have a structure and a pointer to the area.
Are they any way you can examine the memory area using this pointer (Hex dump), rather than using the debugger to examine the data in the structure (bytes, int doubles etc).
Just want to see the memory as its stored without it being mapped to my variables/types.

I am using Visual Studio .Net (version 7.0).
I did manage to get up a display via Debug->Windows->Memory, but when I entered the location (0x01650000) it took it as decimal and displayed hex 0x00192D50.
I converted (0x01650000) to decimal and it reverted back to Hex!!?? (0x00192D50)
Am I on the right feature?

I can't help with VS 7, but I can tell you this works fine on VC6 as I use it a lot. Sounds like a bug to me. Try searching the VS7 info at MS.

I've made all settings in debug mode nad i don't have any work with release and ATL why do i get such error,when i m not working for release.

Hi,
I have a program which creates a named pipe in one thread and then launches another to call ConnectNamedPipe.
Now at some point in the initial thread it will be required to shutdown, so I have tried calling DisconnectNamedPipe followed by CloseHandle but this does not seem to free up the thread that is listening on ConnectNamedPipe and it remains blocking.
Anybody know of a solution to this

I was working on my project and I did something work (don't know what exactly  ...). Visual C++ threw an exception and the program was exited. Now, when I load my project again, I have always this error message: "Cannot access the ClassView information file. ClassView information will not be available."
How can I solve the problem ???

This is a common problem in VS6. Quit VS and then delete the byproduct files (*.plg, *.clw, *.ncb etc.) Restart VS then you should be fine. It will asked you to re-generate the classwizard database, but this only takes a few seconds.
[edit] ..also, make sure that all processes of VS are terminated. VS6 did have an irritating habit of seeminly crashing, but still showed up in the process list.[/edit]

In fact I tried to rename the *.plg file and it said that the file was in use... So I took a look at the task manager (no Visual C++ was open) and I saw that the MSDEV process was still running... So I killed it and now that works fine (so, no need to delete the files  ).
