hi,
what i mean is we need to think little ahed than hacker on the time of development.
We do't need to hack or no need to hack hackers.
But we need to think better than hackers. that's it.

Well if we think ahead of the hackers the hackers will see that we are trying to outsmart them and figure out what their next move will be so they will do something else that we didn't think of and then they will eventually succeed.
This is similar to terrorists. Most countries try to outsmart terrorists by working out what their next move will be and to block it. It means that many times the terrorist won't succeed, but they will keep trying and eventually they may actually strike.
I do not mean that we should just give up and let the hackers (or terrorists) free reign, however we must remain alert at all times and to block any avenues that appear to open for them. Sadly, they do win sometimes.

This is sometimes done, but hackers usually find ways around most things programmers do to *try* and stop them.

First of all, this is the best site that I go to. I get more help from this site (trying to provide what my small amount of knowledge I have myself along the way) than from any other site I've been to. There's one suggestion I have that would make it easier in my opinion and allow for better help. Sometimes I'll start a thread and two or three people will respond, but none of them have the answer. When I'm looking for threads to answer to, I usually look for ones with 0-1 replies thinking that it must've been resolved already. So when some 2 or 3 people reply to my post I think that other programmers that do know the answer might assume that my problem must've been resolved because they see a few replies. I think there should be a way to mark a thread as 'Resolved' so that if it's not, I (or a better qualified programmer) will know that that person still needs help. People should still be able to answer the thread if they have something to add, but that way people who still need help won't get looked over.
I'm not the brightest programmer in the world, so this might not be the brightest idea in the world. Besides, I don't know how hard it would be to implement. Just thought I'd offer a suggestion to a site that has helped me so much.!!

While some people will use this mechanism - I think there are a lot of people who will just not mark their query as resolved because they are lazy or asked a question then disappeared or, most sadly, asked a question that is currently beyond their comprehension but refuse to admit it and want people to post source code without wanting to take the time to understand how it works.
It the mechanism were opened so that anyone could mark a thread as resolved then the system is open to abuse.
I hope I didn't sound too negative - I agree that it would be good to have some sort of mechanism so that resolved queries are so.

understood, and I didn't take your response as negative. It's just that sometimes when that happens and I don't have my question answered in the least bit, I'd like others to know. (and I don't want to get in trouble for double-posting  ). Thanks for your reply.

I've recently added some server-side SPAM control to my domain and I'm noticing that mail from CodeProject is being filtered out as SPAM.
One thing my server is now doing to marking mail as SPAM if the IP address the message was received from does not have a reverse DNS entry. If I receive a message from CodeProject.com (e.g. 209.171.52.99) its IP address cannot be used to get the name of the domain. This can be seen with ping:
ping -a 209.171.52.99
Anyway this can be changed to avoid CodeProject message from being flagged as SPAM?

Wow! CodeProject is the one e-zine I get that I actually read.
I am sure that many of us would be interested in a hearing a bit about how it actually happened - how you began CodeProject & the trials and tribulations. Perhaps a monthly column or newsletter ?

Well.... In the beginning there was a big bang....
Seriously, it has been posted somewhere before. I've just had a quick look and I can't find it just now. But to summarise: Chris used to work for CodeGuru but it got bought over by a company that was only interested in the profits generated by the revenues the site would bring and so CodeGuru began to suck. CodeProject was started originally as CodeTools until it was discovered there was another company with the same name, so it was renamed CodeProject. CodeProject has been steadily building up since and is now IMHO the best community driven developer web site for Microsoft development tools.

I think a monthly column would be a good idea. A more detailed behind the scenes look at CodeProject would be nice, beyond what currently appears in the newsletter and has appeared in Chris's blog.
I doubt whether the CodeProject team would have time to do it, but it would be nice to see a joint column by the team as we all love a good war story and I'm sure we could all learn something from the trials and tribulations of running this site.
Some suggested titles,
* A day in the life of Chris Maunder.
* Editing articles on a slow internet connection by Nish
* Fixing Chris's bugs whilst he's away - by the rest of the team 
* How to keep one million users happy on a limited budget.

If I vote for the same message twice, I get a message saying I've already voted. It would be more helpful if the new vote would just override my older vote... occasionally I'll hit the wrong number by accident, or vote for the wrong message.
