Last evening I cleaned the zucchini plants - they will not grow anything since the cold and rain... (picture[^])
Some statistics for you...
I had 5 plants growing there for about 4 months...
The largest one has root of almost 2 meter long and totally (measuring junctions too) 6.5 meters of leaves and flowers (I'm not sure but it may called stem)...
I collected 127 zucchinis of tennis ball size...
I picked 22 small and not ripe zucchinis from the uprooted plans to pickle them later this week...
It was a good one...

I'm assuming you're referring to just their diameter, rather than their total size?

That or the weather was bad enough that the fruits actually struggled to grow and the vines were full of nothing but tiny runts.

One year the mistake of planting eight zucchini and six cucumber was made. They yielded more than could be consumed, pickled, and given away.
The local fire dept told me they appreciated all the fresh produce but had plenty, although I was free to continue donating all the fresh peppers I wanted. Even the people at the local food pantry were starting to look at me funny when I brought them multiple bags each week.

I had a good year, in particular, for habanero peppers (and some other hot ones). For some reason they started to fruit and ripen pretty much a good month earlier than normal. I thought to manage enough sauce (very concentrated, w/vinegar) to take me to the following year. Turns out I'll have most of a liter of sauce.
Oddly enough, the tomatoes were a bust. Herd a lot of that was "going around" - and that's odd. Usually they're the most over-abundant of the garden.
That habanero sauce has just the greatest aroma (until it spikes your nostrils a couple of seconds later).
Not much of a squash fan. Eggplant serves my purposes. How long's your growing season?
One thing I quite don't understand: Zucchinis ?[^] Did you link to the wrong picture or purchase the wrong seeds?

I can grow things all year around... Not the same however... I rotate between what we call summer and winter vegetables...
The beetroots and celery and carrots are already growing nicely...
The picture is almost exactly the same as in real life - the actual zucchini I have a bit darker green...
We call it here round-zucchini and it is the same family you see in your link...

Is that in any way related to Apple-of-the-Tree vs. Apple-of-the-Earth for what, in English are apples and potatoes, or a general custom for all squash?

We have two main names we use for these things. One we would translate to squash (דלעת) and the oher to zucchini (קישוא) ... An d again an other one for cucumber (מלפפון)...

On a kibbutz (a very long time ago) there was a Canadian volunteer who asked me how to say 'cucumber'. Beside the likelihood he'd never believe me if I gave him the real answer I had a golden opportunity for mischief. That evening he asked the waitress for it using the term I gave him in firm clear voice: "Ten li zubo yarak".
The look on her face as she shouted "Mah?"; the mayhem that followed; the roars of laughter - it was worth losing his trust in such matters!

Not knowing Hebrew, I assume this is similar to the Monty Python sketch in which an English-Hungarian dictionary translated the phrase "May I buy some cigarettes?" to "May I fondle your buttocks?" in Hungarian.
