For the future:
Do you have a Bank of America credit card? If so: They offer a useful service called ShopSafe. Basically you can create a temporary virtual card with a unique number and security code. You pick the expiry date and maximum credit amount. You can delete card at any time. The card is linked to your real card, until you cancel it.
If you are dealing with a company that may cause difficulties of the kind you are experiencing, pay them with your virtual card. If they refuse to cancel your subscription, just cancel the virtual card.
There is no limit as to the number of virtual cards you create and the service is free.

That is super cool! I have always thought that banks and credit card / debit cards should have just such a feature and i've always wondered why they don't all offer that.
It totally makes sense. Especially for online shopping etc.
It's actually ridiculous that all credit / debit cards don't provide this ability.

Yes. The main purpose is that it covers you, in case there are fraudulent transactions on-line. Yes, the bank will cover any losses, but you are able to destroy the card without affecting your real card. No inconvenience waiting for a replacement card. And no need to notify merchants of the new card number.

Right. Interesting, really, that this is a feature.
It should just be the way things work.

Shopsafe helps Bofa more than it helps you really, but if you hate the hassle of dealing with stolen CCs, cancelling the card, getting a new one, etc., it's a super feature.

Discover and Citi MCs had that too but they took it offline a few years ago. So Bofa is the only major bank to still offer this.

Good idea is to leave the default 2 month expiry, so they can't re-charge it if they tried.

Yes. Once you have mastered ShopSafe, a whole range of possibilities open up before you!

If it's like Azure, you only get billed for usage. Delete any AWS apps/services/containers/etc. in the dashboard and at least you won't get charged for anything. As for completely cancelling the account, I'd bite the bullet and suffer a phone call. Hope you get it all worked out!

I get 1 TB of capacity with OneDrive with my Office 365 subscription, which is way more than I need. I have often wondered what the difference is between Azure and OneDrive. I suppose Azure is more for businesses and OneDrive more for private individuals?

OneDrive is only storage. Azure/AWS provides all the services (including storage) that business can basically rent. (webservices, databases, or full-blown servers)
As an example, my company uses Azure to host a couple of web applications that connect to a sql database. One web application takes input from around 250 customer pos terminals while the other is a manager/admin console handling around 70 manager/admin workstations. The cost is usually around $75/month.
The unreliability of my company ISP made self hosting impossible. We checked out Azure and found it very easy to setup and get working. Instant benefits were the ability to scale the web apps individually and the ability to use https. Over the last 2.5 years we have been using it, there has been a total of about 3 hours of downtime from outages...none at all for over a year now...that I know of anyway.
One thing that is available with a subscription is Visual Studio Online. I personally haven't found a good use for it yet. My code travels just fine on my laptop and I still prefer VS 2010 for most projects. (VS 2015 only when I have to) However, if I find myself on a computer without VS, I'm guessing it would work in a pinch.

Thanks for taking the time to reply in such detail. Much appreciated. I now understand what Azure is for the first time.

Although that looks nice, it would not work for me.
I eat and drink at my desk, and thus, my keyboard suffers the abuse. Having something like that would not last long for me.
