The Polar Vortex hit Southern California earlier this month where we also saw daytime highs dropping below 60°F/15°C.
For some reason I got no sympathy from my colleagues located in the cheese state where they were enjoying -26°F/-32°C conditions

We live a half mile from our local hospital, and are on the direct flight path for the helicopter ambulance service to its associated major medical center. Our male greyhound is terrified of the sound the helicopter makes, as it usually passes overhead at fairly low altitude.
