Here we go again. The usual suspects are trying to turn routine diagnostic information into another manufactured privacy controversy over Windows 10. Don't fall for it. (PS: You won't believe what Apple's privacy policy says.) Oooooh. "Analytics". Well, that's just fine then.

To be fair, MS gets a lot of stick for doing exactly what every large tech company does.
Google and Facebook seem especially bad, collecting identifying information even for those users who have explicitly chosen not to use their services.

Not true. Other companies give you a chance to opt out and no other company violates your firewall rules to send the data.

I just want to know WTE MS was thinking when it decided to cut costs by laying off its entire FUD generation department?
At this point I think it has to rank as the worst mistake the company has ever made, above keeping Apple from going bankrupt in the 90s, Windows ME, or disbanding the IE development team after Netscape collapsed and declaring the web feature complete.

With Windows 10, the company has made clear its vision for an unified operating system that can adapt to the growing number of form factors in today’s technology world, lying at the core of which is universal apps. Just think of the size of the market (of people forced to upgrade)!
