Seriously, though, I think it comes from the philosophy that non-techie users don't understand or need the added complexities. It lets them focus instead on the pleasant and descriptive "Type" column. Reducing the amount of information is all touchy feely.

Me, I've always been too much of a control freak. I don't like hidden things. Causes stress. Smile | :)
