Have a person employed to oversee all IT.
Remove that person and hire another person to evaluate the way forwards in IT.
6 months later get recommendation that need to employ a person to oversee all IT.
Hire a person to do what the original person was doing, but reporting to the second person.
It's brilliant really.
ps the second person's job title is Head of IS. I might tell the security services I know where the head of Islamic State is (or they can just read this themselves).

You need to understand management-think.
The (management) preferred ratio of employee-types is five managers to two operatives, with the five managers in staggered hierarchical tiers.
That achieves a number of important objectives:
0: There is always room for every manager to be promoted, because the "management space" is huge and varied, allowing a lot of ladder-climbing to be achieved by useless people, without the owners being able to see just what the Hell is happening within their company.
1: Re-organisations can be frequent, allowing useless people to move sideways within the organisation, completely obfuscating any evidence of all the c**k-ups they caused in their numerous previous roles.
2: If, by some chance of unjust fate, the owners realise that it's costing too much per unit to produce the product, it's almost impossible to do any weeding out of managers -- the whole management structure is too complex to make any sense of, and too many management staff are too good at performing extensive @rse-covering procedures, making it impossible to see who's good, bad, or indifferent -- so the final list of people to potentially lay off can only include the names of operatives, whose abilities and failings are visible.

The Lounge rule regarding no politics will be reinstated on Monday with severe punishments for offenders. We are so grateful CP disabled this rule for the recent elections because there was no where else to discuss them.
