if homer has to pay the each beer he drinks, I don't think much.
But your statement does not clarify the aspect. If the $1 stays in the pocket because he is getting invited then the answer would probably be "infinite"

It was so simple I've been reading the question over and over looking for the trick cos I couldn't believe it would have been posted unless there was one.

Some people think of it like this.
$1.60 - $0.30 = $1.30
So if the burger is $1 more the answer is $0.30 because $1.30 - $1 = $0.30 
Sad part is when I asked other people some of them really had that 'logic'...
