I currently have 3, though occasionally I'll set up the laptop on the desk as well and use Synergy for seamless mouse/keyboard control. At one point I had something like 7: two laptops, desktop with 3 monitors and another desktop with 2. It had its uses at the time, but as others have said, I find 3 to be the most efficient.

I used to have 3 but I've actually throttled down to 2.
1 is a 27" thunderbolt display[^] that works as a docking station for my Macbook, and the other is the macbook's screen itself.
I'm finding I prefer one really big screen than 2 separate screens.

In the Mac world that makes a lot of sense. Everything is document centric anyway and there's less neck strain. I still have two at work on a Windows box, and wouldn't want anymore because I like having my neck not messed up.

Firstly: How is this different from Windows?
Secondly: My Macbook is my Windows machine  (I run Windows 7 via bootcamp)

On Windows, apps usually have the concept of a "document" consume the entire app. Think about VS, the code windows are always maximized. Then the app itself is typically maximized by most folks. So, you have one thing taking up an entire screen. On a Mac, there's no such concept of the app container. The desktop is that. If you maximize something it's the actual document. You could have one doc take up an entire screen, but in my experience most folks don't in the Mac world. So, in essence, using one big monitor is like using several mini-screens inside of one big one.

I have 3 24" and one TV connected
I never use the TV (4th screen) when working only for watching series or movies.
If it's for working purposes it's just to much.

I had 4 for a few weeks at work after discovering that my laptop would let me use 3 external monitors (1x 19" 1280x1024, 2x 22" 1680x1050) and the build in screen at the same time. When I realized that I only used the 4th screen once the second week and not at all the 3rd and 1st half of 4th weeks; I closed the lid and rearranged my desk to put the dock under a monitor stand again to reclaim the space I'd previously had a tissue box located in. This setup proved to be much more productive.

I removed the MSVC12 Python builds I had (they didn't work correctly for some reason), and I tried building Python 3.4.1 with MSVC11 earlier today, and I have the builds working, other than the 'pythonw' executable, which exits with error code 9009 (DNS_ERROR_RCODE_NOTAUTH, according to msdn[^]  )
I have successfully installed a module that includes C extensions (Markupsafe).
I am going to continue toying around with this, and I think I am going to start a project on SourceForge to distribute these builds. I will post a link here when I get it online.
I will try Python 2.7.8 tomorrow.

Meh. Put it on GitHub. While I loathe git, I do find GitHub to be easy to use and, from my narrow perspective, the "in" thing, which is also pathetic because I don't like to do what the masses are doing. SourceForge seems sort of passe.

I am using the unmodified (other than project file upgrades) sources from Python.org, and don't have any real items to put into source control. If I get a complete build system set up I might put it on Github.
