Now don't talk about it. They've started operations in India and when you try to purchase something, it insists on saving your card details (minus the CVV number I suppose). I'm not sure why they cannot provide the option to the customer to choose if they wish to save the card details.

Likewise. I get enough linked-in generated spam without anyone else getting in on the act.
I am constantly receiving requests on the wrong e-mail account. Interestingly, I contacted one of the people who was allegedly sending invitations and they told me they did not have a linked in account.
I may not last forever but the mess I leave behind certainly will.

I got some "phishing" emails from senders who pretended to be PayPal: "Please update your card details etc etc so that an outsanding invoice can be processed.." with a link to a russian based server (.edu.ru). That was every day one mail (one day in bad french, one day in bad german) a few months ago. Now it calmed down.

Was the text related? Or just coincidental in time? Because that would be pretty worrying if it was related; I guess you only put your mobile number in association with your email in a small number of locations, so somewhere important must be leaking information or one of your friends must have malware on their phone where you're in their contact list.

So I was working on one of the project for my company for last one year. Converting existing old FoxPro based system to .NET based solution which is being used on factory floor. Application went in production last month and things are looking fine and today we got the news that company has decided to sell the business unit all together... They are in the process of flogging off that business unit for at least last 6 months as per the news.... I kind of don't understand why spend so much money on implementing a whole new system and upgrade the network ( they did the whole network upgrade at the factory and replaced all old equipments with new one ). I spent a fair amount of my time on implementing a system that whoever buy the business unit may or may not use. Kind of feeling sad that I implemented something that may or maynot be live in next few months

Perhaps it makes the business unit more floggable?
Running something on software which was discontinued about 7 years ago isn't the most attractive prospect for a potential buyer.

This is exactly what we did when a company I was working for was on the market. Invest only in things that make the company more sellable; no pay increases, make sure the place looks nice, get the software up to date, hire a receptionist with big... well, you get the idea

In addition to what the others have said, if you have been working on it for a year, it was probably started before upper management made the decision to divest the business unit. At which point they wouldn't stop it because that could alert people that the sale was in progress and potentially lower the price they might get for it - or even the stock price of the company as a whole if investors think it's a desperate move.
