"Man in the middle" should not be confused with "middleman".

The former implies(if you are a man), that you are generally f*****, a rock between a hard place, between the devil and the deep blue sea, etc. Smile | :) Also, being the man in the middle, between two women, means you are usually talked over, around, and under, as the women participate in idle chatter. Unless they are very, very attractive, avoid this situation, and if not avoidable, earplugs are recommended.

Middleman usually means that you do the f***ing, as you create delays, add cost, and provide essentially no added value. Smile | :)
