Because getting into an argument with a moron is pointless. Are you sure the other woman wasn't being sarcastic?
What annoys me are the seemingly automatic greetings (challenge/response) people use like ('How are you?' || 'What's going on?' || 'What are you doing/'). Worse, are the automatic responses to the common challenges, often with another challenge thrown in to be nice...'Fine, How are you?' (an honest answer to this challenge is mostly considered rude and in bad taste, so please just stick to the script!) && ('Nothing, What are you doing?' || 'Just working') (as if you had to ask!). One other one I hate is when someone says, 'I hate to bother you'...

Yeah, that's right. It is really coming down here in Southern California. The dogs don't quite understand what the noise on the windows and roof is all about. 
The storm is supposed to continue at least another day and the weather forecasters are even talking about thunder, which is really quite rare around here.

A 20 minute journey took me over an hour yesterday. Roads closed and Ventura Blvd was a river. It was funny watching how other drivers reacted to this strange phenomenon. The ones still with their heads down, texting are the best. Click-click-bang! Saw a few of those.

I was developing a very simple application that contains two gridviews with some buttons and paging/sorting/filtering requirements. I recently learned MVC and really willing to give it a go for this project but I was on a tight deadline. Business needed a project ready in production within a week. No big deal provided it was a simple application. Fetch some data from database, display in two grids and once processed change status values. I started coding in MVC but really struggled without proper controls to use and need to revert to webforms.
Do you use any third party controls while coding data intensive MVC application ? What if company is not willing to invest in any third party controls ?

Pretty poor compared to the Web Forms controls (although, with some effort, it works ok)) but I think, if you're willing to pay, some of the larger third party control makers have some good stuff. Maybe look at Infragistics.

MVC is a framework - route maps for instance to enforce separation of logic.
If you want GUI components, try devexpress or infragistics, they are leading vendors

When you switch to a newer framework, don't try to use it as an older framework. It's not the MVC that is making this difficult, it's the over dependency on the gridview (Just look at the QA section filled with gridview questions).
You need just one controller action with 3 parameters. It is little bit extra work. But once you implement it, you get much cleaner and faster gridview. (But I guess you already did)
Once you get familiar with MVC, you will not miss these rich controls. Instead you will like the freedom of creating your own controls, and your application will stand out from the crowd.

How about output the grid data as a html table or as JSON data http://datatables.net/[^]?

For MVC, there're tons of jQuery plugins out there. You could use those. Check this site for jquery plugins, www.jquery4u.com[^]
I did use this one jTable[^] developed by Codeproect member. And this plugin is very good.

I got a new box yesterday. It has bells and whistles in abundance. It also has a 27" screen. Love it.
