'Tis any weirder than yr own auld sod's son, Alec Guinness, as Professor Godbole in "Passage to India" (1984) ?
“But I don't want to go among mad people,” Alice remarked.
“Oh, you can't help that,” said the Cat: “we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad.”
“How do you know I'm mad?” said Alice.
“You must be," said the Cat, or you wouldn't have come here.” Lewis Carroll

I'm deeply disappointed. But John Wayne is still responsible for a whole lot of my all time favourite movies (and not just the westerns)...
Number 3 on this list[^] (but then again: I don't know if I agree about all the movies on the list. #19 for instance looks quite interesting... )

Very interesting. I'm surprised that I hadn't heard of that movie at all before now. With such a history, it seems to be as big a story as that of Tutankhamun.
It's quite ludicrous actually, that big star John Wayne should die from making the worst movie in his career! PLUS the fact that it was originally Marlon Brando that should have played the part - Wayne INSISTED that he should do it. Talk about a poor decision!
Now I just HAVE to see it - sh*tty or not. Luckily it can be found on the Bay, so I don't have to pay good money for it...

Well, at $14.98[^], I guess he could afford it, but he seems to have missed 2 copies.
It can be bought here in Sweden as well for as little as $3.50.

Mmm, but the best piece of miscasting the Duke was as a Roman Centurion (not the Robot kind) with the line "Well, is truly the son of God!, (pilgrim)" no Wanye or Morrison film is complete with that!

Our heating has packed up adn I am steadily turning blue. I think I may have to go out for lunch to 'warm up'. The plumber is called and hopefully he'll be over soon, in the meantime I'll be here shivering in the corner.
