Really? Cause I got this script. Maybe you can just throw it over the fence?

Can we please stop with the whole down voting thing already.
I understand the frustration but really are those points that important?
I personally never had the problem but that's probably because I'm not that outspoken on the site.
I understand that you might be somewhat annoyed by it but at the end of the day will it cause you to be able to drink 1 pint less, no so who cares.
Let those little people who do the downvoting without explaining do what they want they can't really harm you anyway, one or 2 votes from me or a higher member and you'v won in total.
Let's face it there will never be a perfect solution for it everything we can come up with can be abused or worse so...
Just my 2 cents
(by the way I didn't vote, neither up or down, I don't vote on forum messages only on articles where I believe is the only place that voting really matters)

I tried to counter your 2 downvotes, but it looks like at least one of them was from a high-roller; which is, I think, part of the point Mark was trying to make.

Was -16 so actually not that high roller and I really don't care about the points.
But thanks anyway for the effort

Generally speaking nor do I; but I do tend to get sucked in to these discussions despite knowing how unimportant points really are.

Well, take comfort in the fact that it can only happen seven more times today before it stops affecting your rep points, and the fact that it's low-rep voter is certainly better than having a high-rep voter following you around doing the same thing. I've lost over 300 points a day because of that. And the 1-votes were coming in quick succession (four or five per minute). Does Chris care when the higher rep users complain about the abuse? Doesn't look like it to me.
You'd think that high-rep users would have a bit of extra clout when complaining about voting abuse, but those complaints just falls on deaf ears. So, WHY should we bother to contribute to the site if it doesn't get us anything in return. I'd like to think I'm fairly magnanimous, but the apparent lack of respect for contributing users is - well - bullshit.

I'm not bothered by the points themselves, just want to get a feeling for why someone feels the need to try and get at other people, especially those with a decent amount of rep points (and why can't we use them like real money???) yet refuse to declare themselves. I've mentioned a solution and whilst I appreciate that CM has plenty to do, I don't see any feedback (even if that feedback is to say that there is no feedback is better than no feedback). Pity.

When I have to ask a question I can be fairly sure tht the answer will be helpful.
There are some users of whom you do not question thier bona fides, (Yourself, SAK, POH, Luc, Nish, Abhinav etc (apols to the many others not named)).
I do not need to question or check your points.
However, if we are to have a points system then it must not be abused, else it becomes redundant.
If Chris et al want to operate this points system then they must make it accountable, for without openness and accountability it becomes a weapon of attack.
It is like a soviet election.
I always upvote answers given, even if they are not directly helpful, as this offers a reward to people for making an effort.

Yesterday, I answered the question "How to detect removable storage device on victim computer?[^]". I think that the op did not intend to do something bad, just happened to use a false word ("victim"), and he should get a useful answer.
My answer has been deleted meanwhile, I can still see it there, marked as "Deleted". I think that deletion is not appropriate.

Have an upvote to repair the downvote.
I have just been hit with 18 of them in 3 minutes across many of my Q&A answers.

Too many to list: I seem to be getting hit on various old posts as well as new ones. Got to the point where it has become meaningless: there is no real value to the points system (can't buy food with points) and now there seems to be no point in getting them since any coward can go back and do as much damage as they want and do it anonymously. Ridiculous.

Hi,
I just updated my Tip/Trick (JavaScript Date Validation[^]), however, then when I viewed it, it said "You have a new working version of your article. Would you like to view or edit this version?" - or words to that effect. So fair enough I clicked the link "View" to see what it would do. After clicking view link it took me to the usual Article Approval page.
The bug I found was that I was able to Approve my own update! I really shouldn't be able to approve my own work for publishing, surely?
