I improved this alternate (originally posted by somebody else), but then a couple minutes later I noticed something else that needed improving, but I no longer see the "improve" button. Why is that?

I see it all good. Try the old trick of Cntrl+F5 or logout-login or just wait for sometime.

I blame Deeksha. She edited the alternate, but didn't get rid of the extraneous tab.

The issue was that we were letting you set the restriction on who can edit your tip, but not on alternate tips. So, initially after the alt tip was posted it could be edited, but after that it defaulted to locked-down.
Fixing.

When navigating posts via keyboard when reaching hte last post on the page, the next post keycombo should navigate to the next page and automatically open the first post.

After looking at the CPVanity project and talking to the developer could you offer a detailed ranking system based on all the criteria's e.g. ranking on author, authority ... points, you already have the data so it should be easy to do.

The ranking system is at it is. There are categories where every member can gain ( sometimes loose) points.
The points that can be gained were worked out over quite a period of time so if see some need for adjustment you'll have to suggest a proposal where improvements could be made.
