Cool.
I just don't see the comparison being all that valid anyway:
One can't use ADO.NET in native code.
Of course, with years of .NET marketing implying .NET is the end-all be-all of programming
frameworks and native code is dead...
And ADO.NET faster than ODBC? hmmm For all DBMSs and drivers? I'm skeptical, but I
really don't care - all the DB stuff is a bottleneck anyway.
It's the progress in the dev tools for .NET, with pretty much no progress in native tools,
that makes ADO.NET, and .NET in general, more appealing to me.
BTW, I converted all my DB code to ADO.NET from ODBC a while ago, so I'm not
an ODBC fanatic....I'm just saying it's not dead

You're assuming that the technologies are mutually exclusive, whilst I'm not even sure that they are really competing technologies.
ODBC puts it priority in talking to as much databases as it can, whilst ADO puts it's coins on speed. ADO.NET is the speedy version that has been integrated in our favorite framework.
Nah, ODBC ain't dead. The BDE is dead, and I think that we should be gratefull for that

I have the same material. It´s enough to pass.
As my friend said:

Recently, I've tried to use the activex control in webservice.,but encountered some problems. I've already tested the activex control in a website, and it turned out to be right.
In the webservice, I add the .dll file of the activex control in the reference, then I can use the activex control in the webservice, but when i debug it, it generates an error,"System.Threading.ThreadStateException: ActiveX control '745395c8-d0e1-4227-8586-624ca9a10a8d' cannot be instantiated because the current thread is not in a single-threaded apartment". This problem really gives me a headache. Can anyone help me with this problem? Anything will be appreciated.

Welcome to CodeProject
I don't know anything about you but based on your post you seem to be unaware of a couple of key aspects of software development.
The most important is that you will have to know and understand things that you work with. If you don't take the time to learn these things this is what happens, as in this case you can't solve your problem.
In order to study a subject it is important to know that in most cases a simple Google search will start you down the correct path to enlightenment.
Anyway a simple google search using MSDN followed with some keywords from your post turned up this article as about the 5th result. This article looks like a very good starting point for you.
What are these "Threading Models" and why do I care? [^]

Hi,
I need to use RNGCryptoServiceProvider in PHP.
I have tried:
Code:
$rng = new DOTNET("mscorlib", "System.Security.Cryptography.RNGCryptoServiceProvider");
$arr = array(0);
$v = new VARIANT($arr,VT_ARRAY);
$rng->GetBytes($v);
unset($rng);
The component loads fine.
But I got this error: Fatal error: Uncaught exception 'com_exception' with message 'Error [0x80070057] The parameter is incorrect.
Any ideas?

Hi folks!
many thanks for all your contributions. Indeed, VS2008 C# Express supports .NET 2.0 - the grayed option I referred to was actually VS2008 C++, not C#.
I managed to raise the app for a pilot run so I'm OK for this one.
Cheers

What are you wittering on about? Creating the .NET framework in C# - This is a bit of a pointless exercise as you need the .NET framework to run C#.

You could bootstrap it, starting with a subset of C#, write an embryonic C# compiler, tweak stuff a bit in the early generations, and grow it. That is how nature does things after all. I may take a while though.

You could. It's still a pointless exercise.

Here's[^] one source of usage. Locally, it means to ramble on uselessly.

British word meaning "talking boring, inconsequential rubbish that nobody is interested in".
So same meaning as twitter, I suspected as much. Could have looked it up myself but it presented an excuse to do some twittering of my own.

wittering = being witty?
witticising isn't a word yet.

Besides, the .Net Framework was written in Javascript, not C#. It just wouldn't be right...
