The CP supporter status is no longer available becuase in the end it didn't make sense.
Those who recieved it many, many moons ago still have it but statuses such as Site Builder and MVP have replaced it.

Just a suggestion,
Would it be possible to give a notification in the 'reply form' whilst writing a response if a new message has already been posted:
I've seen it happen many times where there have been two almost identical replies to the same message within a few minutes.
I realise that having a seperate browser window/tab open pointing at the original message would solve this 'problem', but could a more elegant method be encorperated into the reply form?

Not sure how this would work. We'd have to be constantly polling the database while you write your message to ask
'has there been another reply?'
'has there been another reply yet?'
'has there been another reply NOW?'
But eventually we'd probably just yell, in a bad Scottish accent, 'No Donkey! There has not been another reply!'

I notice that the web site [that cannot be named here] has started to allow posting of videos. Actually, the one that caught my eye was how to use snippets. LOL!
Just wondering if you had considered a video section here on CP, where people could post short "how-to" videos - basically a screen capture of how to do something, or how some feature worked.

OK, but what about .swf videos? There are free tools that allow you to easily create .swf screen captures, and you don't need to download swf players, etc. Exactly what tools do you need for Silverlight videos? Do you need Expression Blend? That's not a free product, is it? And how about playing a Silverlight video? What do you need?
I think the point of a screen capture video is to show how to do something, or demo some feature. Not sure I would ever embed a video in an article. I'm thinking more along the lines of a YouTube for techie videos.
The news item is pretty funny. In order to learn about Silverlight, you need to download Silverlight, because all the items posted there are Silverlight videos. Sort of viral. Hopefully someone will post an article about Silverlight without this nonsense.
I'd be interested in hearing whether you're going to have a video chapter, where members can post swf videos.

I have a TODO item to expand the silverlight offering and make it generic for flash, silverlight, deadsprout (or whatever Apple's new version is called)
Do you think we should have a video as an article in its entirety? Or videos inside articles?

I would like to think that videos could potentially enhance articles, but I have great fear. Will people use videos instead of a decent explanation? What if you see article with a bunch of uncommented code, and a single sentence that says, "For explanation see video". I would set a record for clicking on 1.
I could be wrong, but right now I don't see how videos will enhance article in any way at all, except to keep some people amused.
On the other hand, I think there is great benefit to having "how-to" video, showing how to use some product or some feature. The other day someone asked me how to change the drive of swap file. It would be cool to post video, instead of saying, First, do this; then do this; then change that; and then click OK.
If you have idea of how video will enhance article, I would love to hear it. I think some of the Channel 9 stuff from MS is very good, but long videos would be out of place in article.

I'd prefer within articles only for the same reason that a chunk of code with nothing else is a bad article.
My biggest concern with any sort of video posting is that our resident reprobates will eventually abuse it by posting content not appropriate for viewing in the workplace.

You're still confirmed, but it's been over 9 months since you've confirmed your address. Once 12 months have passed we assume that your email address is dead and buried and mark it as unconfirmed.
The reason we do this is because
1. We don't want to send emails to accounts that aren't active.
2. We don't want to run the risk that we're sending email to an account that was abandoned by one person and resurrected by another (eg hotmail accounts). We'd essentially be sending an email to someone who didn't ask for it
3. We want (and obviously need) to comply with Anti-spam laws
4. We want to ensure that, if we include an advertiser's ad in a newsletter we know, as accurately as possible, how many active accounts we send to. Other sites have big email lists and charge for every address on the list irrespective of whether address on the list have been inactive for 5 years. We try and do the right thing by you guys and ensure we only send emails you want; and we try and do the right thing by our advertisers and ensure we don't over-inflate our numbers and inadvertantly over-charge.

As more forums get added, and freqently moved around, I would like to be able to float my favourite forums to the top of the list. For example, I hardly ever visit the C++ forums. However, I visit the C# and ASP.NET forums frequently. I'd like them to appear at the top, or in a different colour or some other differentiating factor.
In fact, forums I never visit I'd like to hide from the list.
Also, I notice new forums popping up from time-to-time. If the forum list were ordered by my own choosing I'd put my favourites at the top, followed by the remainder in reverse order of their appearance on the site (so the newest was at the top).

Nice idea. The forum of VC++ went away from the drop-down list at the main page and I have to go into the main list to be able to select it
