Following a link from my RSS reader, I was presented with:
"The article you want to view was deleted at 12 Jan 2008."
Could you either correct the grammar or ideally put the time in the message?
E.g. "The article you want to view was deleted on [the] 12 Jan 2008."
or "The article you want to view was deleted at 12:32GMT on the 12 Jan 2008."

Hi,
I am offering a suggestion of introducing a feature named My Messages which would help in filtering and showing only my messages posted in a particular forum. This feature can also be all encompassing where a link named My Messages would display all posted messages made by a user in any forums.

The messages are already actually indented to show the Reply heirarchy. But when the number of threads increase, there might be a steep confusion that creeps in. Just thought how about a thin dot-dash line like a TreeView.
That would indicate the hierarchy quite clearly.

It's obvious after all these years that people don't (or can't) read the big message at the top of the lounge.
So, instead of everybody flaming people who ask programming questions, I think we need a way to "kindly" redirect people to the correct forum to ask their question. Maybe a little javascript activated drop down menu that says "Ask In...".
What do you all think?

That might be an option.
I was thinking it could automatically move the whole thread to the appropriate forum, but now that I think it through, it would probably be abused, just like everything else.

If CP developed a robot or Java script to detect programming questions, many post in the Lounge might be treated as programming questions because of hex numbers, specific keyword or terms, etc.

Na, I meant the CPians who knew what forum the question should be asked in could hit a button, and it would move the thread over.

Quite often the pq's are accompanied by "please email solution to abc@def.com". Why don't we just take the email address and submit it to a large number of known spammers?

Add a "Ask your URGENTZ Question here!!", and a check box that says "Do you want codez with your answer?", then promptly redirect them to rentacoder.

I just about clicked 'Abuse' on a message I had no intention of doing. I was dragging the mouse and sometimes my finger gets heavy (1600 pixels is a total drag).
It occurred to me that we should have grayed out (unvote, unspame, unabuse) links for messages that activate once we do any of the above. I'd have hated to vote this particular message spam it would have made me well ... okay so it's not that big of a deal ... okay so maybe it's not even worth bringing up ... okay I'll umm ... yeah I'm leaving ... right now ... so long, BYE!!!
Really though it may not be a bad idea...

But it also pops up a JavaScript confirmation before the spam or abuse report actually is sent to the server!

We've done a lot of work to fix the minor niggles (and also the major ones). I just wanted to test the wind and get an idea from you all as to whether you feel the site is now fast enough and usable enough.
Apart from the tidy-ups we need to do (and the 5 minutes of outage here and there as we upload new versions), is everything going OK or are you still having major problems?
1 = Not so Good, 5 = Going Well So Far

Speed has improved. RSS feeds via Google Reader are excellent although sometimes it is quicker to click the Google Reader link to a Lounge posting than to navigate to the Lounge from other forums. And I appreciate the "irony" comment on some error pages.
From time to time, when viewing an article in a new tab (mainly Firefox) it forgets by login status in the new tab but continues with my correct login status from the preceding tab.

Hmm.
Do you open a new tab from a link on a current page, or open a new tab then go to the site directly by typing the address in the address bar?
When you refresh does it pick up your sign on?
Do you have "remember me" checked when you log on?
Are you waiting a good amount of time (over 20 mins) between viewing a page and opening a new tab from a link from that page?

I usually login from a button on the toolbar, or if I am ONLY using Google Reader, the lounge posting link, both no problems there.
From home page, I can right click and send to new tab an article for viewing. Intermittently, I get the warning that you must login, refreshing page in new tab don't help. Yet from the home page in the preceding tab I can navigate to any forum without loss of login status even if I right click and send to new tab any links on sidebars.
As said, it is intermittent.

I haven't had an error page come up, but the speed is still a bit dodgy during peak hours, but it has definitely improved.
