Use the combo box at the top of the messages, I use DHTML view and I get the option to change to 25 messages.

I am trying to populate a textbox that has the password type set. I want to put junk in it so it looks like there is something there, not the correct password of course. It doesn't seem to matter if I add text in the html
<asp:textbox runat="server" type="password">Junk Here
or assign it through code
txtPassword.Text = "Junk Here";
When the control is rendered it is empty. Is this by desing or am I missing something? I just want some placeholder characters.

Hmm.... as I remember you need to use "value" property, like:
<input type=password value="Jank here">
Maybe it changed in .NET? Dunno

That's the ticket. Curious that value isn't a recognized attribute for a textbox control but it puts the text in, where as the text property does not.

I want to create my own file type, which when requested by the web server is handled differently than simply sending its data to the client. It should pass through either a ASP.NET page or an application, which transforms the file (which is actually an XML file) according to an XSL stylesheet, on the server side, and sends the resulting data to the client as if that was the data the file actually contained.
I've looked into the IIS Manager applet, and what I'm looking for seems to be in here: Expand Web sites, right click default web site, choose properties, choose home directory, click configuration.
So, it looks like I need to write an application. A dll, actually. Problem is, how? How do I recieve the data I need (the filename of the file to transform), and give back the data I want to give (the transformed XML)? Perhaps I get passed a HttpRequest and HttpResponse object, that I Response.Write() to? So what does my Main() look like?
Can I even do this with a managed DLL? All the ones on that list don't seem to be, as I can't ildasm.exe them.
Someone must have done this before. Help?

Create an HTTPHandler, and use web.config to assign it to the extension:
[In Web.Config]
<httpHandlers>
<add verb="*" path="*.CustomExtension" type="MyHandler.ExtensionHandler, MyHandler" />
</httpHandlers>
[In ExtensionHandler.cs]
using System;
using System.Web;
namespace MyHandler
{
public class ExtensionHandle : IHttpHandler
{
public void ProcessRequest(HttpContext context) {
HttpResponse Response = context.Response;
HttpRequest Request = context.Request;
}
public bool IsReusable {
get {
return true;
}
}
}
}
If you're just transforming XML files, you may want to look at the XSLISAPI filter from MS, which does exactly that.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU.
This looks perfect! Researching XSLISPAI right now, but more importantly I have acquired the knowledge of how to do this myself, in MANAGED code!

OK, the sample I got this from was posted to the GotDotNet site by Donald Buchanan. The instructions to get it working are:
- Create a new web project, and add ExtensionHandler.cs to it
- Create or update the web.config file in the root of your project with the HTTPHandler details
- Open IIS Admin
- Find your project, and add the mapping for your extension.
- This should be mapped to the aspnet_isapi.dll - just copy the path from the aspx extension.
- You can limit the verbs to GET, HEAD, POST and DEBUG.
- Tick the "Script Engine" option, and [optionally] un-tick "Check that file exists".
- If you have URLScan installed, you may need to modify the configuration to allow the extension through. The URLScan.ini file contains details of how to do this.
- Compile your project.
- Run!

You can use Response.BinaryWrite if you have the data of image. Remember to set up the header of the page to apropriate content-type

OnMouseover and the like are client side. You can always add the attribute and provide the JavaScript to handle it.

<asp:image runat=server onmouseover='YourFunctionHere()'>
Provide the JavaScript function in a script block, or inline it, and your set. Just because the attribute doesn't show up doesn't stop you from adding it.

I´m trying to run ASP.NET pages on my server but it´s not working. Even if I created a new project with VS.NET when I execute a page I receive this message:
Server Application Unavailable
The web application you are attempting to access on this web server is currently unavailable. Please hit the "Refresh" button in your web browser to retry your request.
Administrator Note: An error message detailing the cause of this specific request failure can be found in the system event log of the web server. Please review this log entry to discover what caused this error to occur.
I checked the Event View and found this two entrys:
Entry 1:aspnet_wp.exe could not be launched because the username and/or password supplied in the processModel section of the config file are invalid.
Entry 2:aspnet_wp.exe could not be started. HRESULT for the failure: 80004005
Anyone know what is causing this and how can I solve it !?
Thanks

onmouseover{ img2.src = "image3"; }
onmouseout{ img2.src = "image2"; }
Assuming the images are next to each other this will give the appearance that image2 is replaced by image3 on the mouseover and is replaced on the mouse out
onmouseover{ img2.style.display = none; }
onmouseout{ img2.style.display = block; }

Hi all,
I have been working with a webcontrol that will render a IFRAME,
so I can copy/paste html code into it. So far I can do exactly that but
I can't read the contents from the IFRAME. Can anybody help?! Here is my
render code:
protected override void Render(HtmlTextWriter output)
{
output.Write( "" );
output.Write( "function document.onreadystatechange()" );
output.Write( "{" );
output.Write( "idContent.document.designMode='On'" );
output.Write( "}" );
output.Write( "" );
output.Write( "" );
}
how do I read the contents of the IFRAME?!

Has anyone come across this before. I have a page that has a simple button on it that when clicked sends the user to another page.
Response.Redirect("nextpage.aspx");
On a PC everything is fine. On a Mac only Netscape works properly. In IE the page goes blank and when I view source the header says it is the page I want but the body is completely empty. If I navigate to the page directly from the navbar everything is fine.

FYI for anyone interested.
The problem was the SmartNavigation directive on the destination page. Documentation says it is for IE 5 and above but I guess that doesn't mean Mac IE 5 and above. Curious that it worked on Netscape 4.7. Even more curious that the page could be navigated to directly but not redirected.
