I don't have any clients connected to my server so I can't test this, but you might give it a try. In the Sharing tab of the printer properties there's a checkbox to "List in the directory." Check it and see if that helps.

I searched for a while last night trying to figure this one out, since I'll be running into it one day, too. All I can find is Microsoft's instructions to share the printer and advertise it. Searching on "advertise" returns absolutely nothing of interest, of course, and there are no instructions anywhere about how to do that. Maybe listing it in the directory will advertise it, like a yellow pages ad.

On the other hand, it might just mean that the printer will get a lot of calls from aluminum siding salesmen and vendors of Cialis, too. Who knows? Maybe after having several parts of its anatomy enlarged, the printer will feel more comfortable sharing itself. It's worth a try, I guess...
