That would be correct because if you look in that directory you'll see that Word, Excel, Access, InfoPath etc are all installed there.  A possibility would be to use this registry key to get the root path.  Then check for the existance of:

winword.exe    =    Word
excel.exe        =    Excel
msaccess.exe  =    Access
infopath.exe    =    InfoPath
ois.exe           =    Picture Manager

etc etc

Any use?  If the exe doesn't exist then presumably the application doesn't exist.
