Right click on the datagrid and select autoformat...

It will help you a bit...

collision detection, why doesnt this work?

Hey, im fairly new to VB.net and am coding a game of sorts which requires Collision detection
the way i have set it up is that whenever "pic" moves 4 functions check to see if it is in collision with "wall"
this is one of the functions, it checks to see if it has collided on the right side

I m using wininet.dll in my vb application.

My application was working fine but some how it is giving me error that
Run-time error '435':
Can't find DLL entry point HttpsendRequestA in wininet.dll.

Any body can help me.

You must give the focus to the control you want to send the keystrokes to. Using this method isn't recommended because it's not a completely reliable way to send keystrokes.

In order for it to work, you must give the application/control the focus, then send the keystrokes. But, in a multitasking environment like Windows, the focus can move from control to control and application to application at any time. This includes the time between when you set the focus and the time you send the keystrokes, even if SendKeys is the very next statement!

well ginving the text box focus works i only need it for a second. But it wipes out the entire contents of the textbox because of the focus it selects all.
so had to play a game and came up with

TextBox1.Focus()
SendKeys.Send("{right}")
SendKeys.Send("{backspace}")

works so I like it!

That's what I thought too... until it hit production! Out of 15,000 machines, some are garanteed to find that little second and mess it up for you.

I am writing this in VB.NET and testing it against Outlook 2003.

I have successfully added a new Menubar "myMenu"........ now I need to add 3 drop down options to it. "Option 1", "Option 2" and "Option 3". And I should be able to get to the click events for all the 3 options.

When I click "Option 1", it launches internet explorer (for example). Like I said, I am having a hard time trying to figure out how to add drop downs to the "myMenu" option that I added on the "Menu Bar".

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated!

In my code i have called a DLL which exports C++ functions which help me to read and retrieve data from different shapefiles(shapefile is a fileformat to store
non-topological geographic data)

The functions are in a while loop and the values got from the passed parameter are then stored in the sql database in ntext format(CLOBS).

Now this code works most for most ofshapefiles except a few shapfiles.

I get the following error:
An unhandled exception of type 'System.NullReferenceException'
occurred in final GUI.exe

Additional information: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

I know what the error means but as it doesnt come for all the shapefile inputs i am unable to debug.

here's is my code:

You haven't posted enough code to diagnose the error. What line does the exception occur? What objects does that line deal with? I bet you trying to use an object that you think is instantiated, but in fact, is not because of some failure above the line that threw the exception.

For example, what if your .ExecuteReader() method call succeeded, but the SQL it ran didn't return anything? Your code might be assuming that it returned valid data, but never checked it to be sure.

Can Any one guide me how to launch the Exe from setup wizard.
