Thank you, my breathing is almost back to normal now. I think a little light gin is called for.

My astrologer told me that you'd be "snippy" today.
I'd respond in kind but my astrologer also told me that you'd spill some gin this week.
I figure that is probably more karmic blowback than you can handle.

In my long and varied life, I have travelled to all corners of the globe and drunk in bars from the lowliest spit & sawdust to the swankiest cocktail lounge. I have NEVER spilt Gin.
Beer, I've spilt beer. But never Gin.

They're obviously working to fix it - the subheading is still wrong, but the body now mentions "astronomists".
Nice Disqus avatar, BTW.

It still isn't anywhere near as bad as what passes for "journalism" here in the states.
Added: Apparently, it took 2 hours for them to change the word "astrologers" to -- get this -- "astronomists", before it was finally fixed to "astronomers."
I still stand by what I wrote above, though.

It is because our Nigerian born baby eating communist president gave all the gold in Fort Knox to Chinese industrial spies working for Al Qaeda.

And you got those news reports from the Internet, so they must be true!

Seriously?[^]
If anyone had ever been to Hull they would know that the words Hull and Culture are not often seen in the same sentence.
(Unless that sentence is something like "Hull has no culture"
I want those of you who have never been to Hull to imagine a grimy, run down fishing port town that has mass unemployment, no class, no style.
Where people are miserable and impoverished and education is frowned upon.
There is no ambition nor civic pride and it is inhabited by druggies, alcoholics, single mothers and there bastard offspring, all of whom rely upon benefits and handouts.
The only Art in Hull is Graffiti.
It is a shithole, worse even that Luton!

Come on - tell us what you really think!
I've been to Hull and back twice - once to visit The Deep - I was working at another aquarium at the time and was asked to check out the opposition.
The other time was to take my daughter to look around the university as she was thinking of going there - luckily she chose to go to Liverpool, my own Alma Mater (and our home town).
Nothing I saw makes me anxious to make a third visit.

Seriously?
I was pretty sure it would go to Hull - look at the competition.
Leicester - it's a pleasant (if you like cities) city with a lot of history. Met some good people from there.
Dundee - Been there, nothing special. Has dolphins, which is a plus.
Swansea - As Dylan Thomas said: "It's a pretty, sh*tty city". I leave out the comma.
Dundee and Swansea aren't in England, so they stood no chance - NI got it last time. Worse, Dundee might not even be in the UK in 2017...
And Hull? It has no discernable culture so it had to win, if only to persuade the locals that mooning each other outside the pub is "cultural"

Isn't culture the convex hull of living together?

That would have been really funny - "UK City of Culture 2017" is not actually in the UK in 2017 if the vote goes against Cameron...

Mmmm, The Who recorded a live album there (in the city hall?) and it went wrong what we got was Live At Leeds. Also I bet there are a few 'cultures' growing in the a city of Alcoholics & Druggies. It from your description has a style 'Chav' (pass the Burberry!)

On the upside, they do have Kingston Telecom, or KTL, or whatever they are called now.
