There is a setting in IE to open links in a new window. What happens if you do this. Apologies for the late reply.

the first line is your answer? Great. I would call it over assumption of things. And not to miss Over Confidence. The fact is only because you have to keep up with your daily and monthly competitors, sometimes taking a shot in the bush helps. And although you may not accept this on the forum, but you know you have done this before.

@thatraja.. this is what happens when you copy paste links as answers left-right-center without understanding what the OP wants. If it were only a suggestion why was it posted as a Solution and not a comment. No wonder I can see your name on the right side.

Looks as though something to do wrong with the crsytal msi. Just try uninstalling it and restarting the box and then installing it again.
Thanks

IMO I dont think thats possible. Because if the field has already been exported as an INT, you cannot have any further control on it i.e. changing it to decimal. Unless you change the excel to show decimals after you have exported the report.

Check if the formula is resulting in INT or STRING. Could be a string thats why u are not able to sum it.

Yup thats where I am stuck. I dont want to filter on anything. And most important data for me is BRANCH_NO. I want all branch_no as I am using them in the RDL. BUt filtering removes some branch_nos which leaves my report incomplete.

Have your tried Reporting Services. Its easy to build a report on that. You can compare the times on both crystal reports and SSRS and then decide.

Now I can see the difference between Stackoverflow and Codeproject. If the whole point is just to "start of" and not solve a question, I would still think it should go as a comment and not a SOLUTION. I can guess how experts have been scoring easy 10 points for pasting overly out-of-scope links. No wonder. Its like the competition who pastes links first.

And what about the language Mr Sandeep. :thumbsup ???
It is sad that top experts cant do or rather dont do anything about it.
ShaikhM
26-Jun-12 0:50am

Please mind your language.
What's the point if you just Google and paste links that cover such a broad area and are not specific to the question. Anybody can do that. You links include VB.net, ASP.net, Sql Server and one also involving web-pages which in this case it not required at all.
This would have been completely acceptable, had it been a suggestion or a comment. How can you provide a solution to a question that is not clear itself.

Can you please elaborate and add some more details to question. The solution below just lists out links that you can find yourself on Google.
ShaikhM

That wasnt a solution. Its just how to use Google to find things. You didnt even care to ask what backend the person is using. That solution is extremely broad and out of scope.
Infact the question itself doesnt have proper instructions on what is wanted.

Ok. So atleast you know that your font is working. For size, I would suggest that you try different sizes and also try including enough space in the text field for the text to fit in it. Play some more with it, because thats what I would do.

I seriously dont understand the second paragraph of the solution. Probably needs editing. Looks like a solution is provided just for the sake of it. Can you be more clear.

As far as I know, crystal reports supports only True Type fonts.
Check link to understand the difference between both the fonts
( http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080621145425AAuKtgk ).
The font you are using may be a Open type font, that CR doesnt support. Just for testing try using a True type font and see if PDF prints, if it doesnt then the problem may not be fonts, and may be somewhere else.

A tablular format of the required report for us to understand better will be of great help. Also what code base you are using? Please give more details.
Also using crystal reports your only option? I am asking this because such things are less complex using SSRS.

I think the approach you have taken is probably the most obvious one. I would do the same.
But instead of an array can you try a shared variable. Idea remains the same.
And theres no better way I can think of.

First of all. Check this link.
http://www.dpriver.com/pp/sqlformat.htm
It is a very helpful link that formats all you sql statements for you. That makes it a lot easier to read.
And now getting back to you question. I think you have to include more details.
1) What version of CR you are using.
2) Do you have any groups?
3) Is all the data in the detail section?
4) What sequence is it displaying records .. 1 item twice together or One set of 4 records after the other.
Quickest way to check is Run SQL Profiler and see what sql query your report is executing when it runs. You will have a better idea then.

may be you have include a join or something and relate both the datatables. I am not sure. What else have you tried.
And if you seriously want to use crystal report, then why dont you create one instead of doing this dynamic thing. And then pass your data to the report
ShaikhM
20-May-12 23:02pm

And why have you included Crystal reports in your tags? there is no mention of crystal reports in your question itself.
ShaikhM
17-May-12 18:45pm

Is using Crystal Reports your requirement or choice? You might consider SQL Reporting Services. Though CR can achieve such things, but needs the developer to give a lot of pressure to his brains. SQL Reporting Services do not. Comparatively.

What happens when you try to export the report to PDF from Crystal report itself? Any error?
Also does any part of your code adds or changes any fields from the "tablename" at runtime?
As an alternative try running a different dummy report that uses the same "tablename"

I suspect it is not a problem with Crystal. I think it has something to do with the query that you wrote. Try running a sql profiler and see whats happening behind when the report shows "In Progress". That will tell you where to start.
