Some of those myths - I've never ever heard anyone say those. I mean, who thinks learning C is a requisite to learning C++?

Actually, it's surprisingly frequent. On Reddit, I commonly see people ask for advice on how to learn C++ and be instructed to learn C first.
Of course Bjarne may be trying to get people to buy his own introductory programming tome based on C++.

Stalwarts like Java, PHP, and C++ remain highly popular but are dropping in Tiobe's year-end ratings. Soaring to majestic heights of dozens of users!

Ignoring for the moment the issue of what, if anything, Tiobe's index is actually worth; why not just link to Tiobe[^] itself?
A few things visible by looking at the table itself appear more interesting than any of the clickbait articles regurgitating whatever part of the result fits their agenda best.
What immediately stood out to me is that the top 6 languages on their list all took downward hits in their shares over the last year. IF this means that interest in second tier languages is rising or if Tiobe's changed their implementation in a way that rates them higher is an interesting question I've not seen addressed anywhere.
Looking at the rest of the top 20 ratings I see Visual Basic has gone from 0.002% to 1.802% (a 901x increase), PL/SQL and Pascal both roughly doubled their ratings, Perl and Delphi are up ~50%, VB.net up 25%. Since none of these are buzzword compliant platforms (with the debatable exception of Oracle, legacy/stigmatized is probably a better description), huge surges in their real popularity are unlikely; meaning that Tiobe probably has been fiddling with its own numbers in some way shape or form.

Well, there are vast and numerous reasons why. 
OK, entirely because I came across this article first. (And that the Tiobe list rarely has much analysis, so just linking to a few charts just doesn't get me going these days)

Ubuntu Core doesn’t use debs or apt-get. We call it “snappy” because that’s the new bullet-proof mechanism for app delivery and system updates; it’s completely different to the traditional package-based Ubuntu server and desktop. Bad points (IMO)
The march to making everything look like java continues...
e.g.:- The ?. operator - which really doesn't look like "Basic" at all.
Good points (IMO)
The "NameOf" operator - at last the pendulum swings back towards giving the compiler the tools to find errors due to typos in property name references...
Readonly Auto-properties - just makes my DTO classes that little bit easier.

Working in an environment of mostly engineers that write some code, as opposed to developers that have been trained to write code, we use VB and its variants (VBA, VB.NET, VBScript). So, articles to this effect are beneficial to us.

Disagree, they should be repeatedly beaten with a box jellyfish of some sort; I'm currently undecided between one that may kill[^] you within 20 minutes if you're not provided antivenom, or one that has no antivenom and will leave you writhing in agony[^] for a day wishing for death.

I don't get all the VB hate... VB is a great language that does the same as C#, but with a slightly different syntax. C# is beautiful, but VB has great stuff too! With this new release VB becomes even better (and more like C#)!

}The vertical spacing is even worse with else if-statements and try-catch-finally blocks.
Don't get me started on cases... C# needs a break; in each case even though it can't fall through to the next case anyway. Speak of redundancy.
I know there's a lot of legacy VB code out there that is just the worst. VB has a non-OO history and it shows. It just doesn't show in the language (a lot).
C# has very neat stuff that can really be missed in VB, but that doesn't make VB a bad language.
That said I love C# and usually prefer it over VB, not because VB is a bad or ugly language, but because C# has more support online.
It just seems like people forget C# code can be as bad as bad VB code. It's the programmers that suck, not the language!

The 850 EVO by Samsung, uses 32-layer TLC "V-NAND," where the "V" stands for "vertical.

I'm using the 128Gig Samsung 850 EVO right now as a primary drive in a new build running Win 8.1.
Impressive performance, impressive "Drive Magician" software to configure it. But, it's my first SSD, so I do not have hands-on experience with another make/model.
Best of all, it has a ten-year warranty, which, in the Asian country I live in, is a virtual miracle.

Typesafe recently released a report based on their survey findings of over 3000 Java developers, focusing on the adoption of Java 8 as well as upcoming developer technology trends. I don't know. I usually get a little jittery after the 6th java in the morning.
