vps hosting question

I want to ask about vps, is there any kind of vps that I have the operating system it self controled (eg. like my Workstation Windows 7 installation? where I can install add/remove programs, like a remote Windows control) or I get only the webserver eg apache, IIS. Is there any Web service that will provide me the full operating system control?

Solution 1

Most (all) hosting companies has a set of installed applications/tools/features you get with your subscription...
You can not add or remove but configure (enable/disable too) them...
If you need a specific feature you should serac/ask for at the hosting company...
