Return result of a custom SSIS Control flow Component to Variable

Morning,

This is my first question on this site, so be gental :)

I'm trying to write a SSIS custom Control Component (a bit like the Koneasans File watcher). My proplem is, I need to return the components string output to a user variable (yep, again like the Koneasans File watcher), but I have no clue how to do this.

Can anyone please point me in the right direction?
