Action , ActionForm , ActionServlet

This is a question in Java Struts.
i want to know what is the use of actionServlet ??
i mean when both action and actionForm can do all the job why should we use actionServlet.

if it is helpful , i want to know how can i use Actions to forward their requests to the servlet in order to do some database operations ?

plz help and thnx in advance
