The question is Code quality v.s New techniques, which one is more important to improve the product quality?

There are two sides in the discussion happened in the company I am working for. One side is that they believe code quality, serious and careful attitude of an individul developer is the key to improve the product quality. Those sort of attitude should be used in every stage of SDLC. On the other hand, another side believes new techniques, like new devices, new machines or latest techniques, can improve the quality of the products.

I am definitely in the first group, and won't change forever, but most people around me in the company are in the second group. Therefore, would you guys show me your opinion, please? I just want to know how many people support our opinion in the world.

Your company is full of morons. If anyone thinks that continuing to write code badly, but to do it using new buzzwords, is going to make a product better, they are on drugs.

What is the point of using new techniques if your code does not do what it is meant to do?
IMO, writing quality code is more important.

If you can do that using new techniques it's all the more better as it gives your sales team something to talk (sell) about.
