Report Viewer - Blanks the Screen

After I added an expression to the footer of the rdlc form, the entire console screen blanks when the Report Viewer is first populated. The blank screen lasts for a few seconds. Before I added the VB expression to the footer, this did not happen. I am using VS 2008, standard edition, C#, running on an XP-PRO and the VS solution is a Windows Forms application.
