I need a help please. I know how to code on vb with visual studio and i know a bit of html and css. I just got a contract of doing a site like facebook. That is, each client has its own profile page and can message any member, can also chat. So i want to know if this is a website or if this is a web. application? If its a web application, how do i make a good user interface like facebook or codeproject because i dnt knw if visual studio allows you to design pages.

MSDN has a good overview of these project types written specifically to help you in making such decisions of choosing one of the two: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd547590%28v=vs.110%29.aspx[^].
