Is there an event for when an appbar displays?

I want to conditionally disable/enable buttons on the bottom app bar, but there doesn't seem to be an "Opened" or "Opening" event or the like.

How can I respond to the opening of the appbar so I can disable/enable these buttons based on the app's current state?
