how to enable/disable the contols like textbox , rediobutton etc in ASP.Net.

I tried using the below the two commands , but it is not working

document.getElementById('ctl00_ContentPlaceHolder1_txtBankName').enabled=false;

document.getElementById("<%txtBankNam%>").enabled=false;
