Stelios posted a UserControl for windows .net development called a 'CheckedComboBox' article here: A ComboBox with a CheckedListBox as a Dropdown[^]
I can't seem to fix the focus issue of the drop down. When the dropdown window appears you have to click on something before the items become available for selection. Any advice?

My advice - stop and ask yourself why there is a forum provided under the actual article. If that fails, try to fix it yourself, and then ask specific questions here, that do not reference an article that has nothing to do with this forum, specifically.

you're such a genius, that must be why you're an admin with 300k + posts, you're awesome. Keep up the good work! (and I'm likely to stop using the site due to rude dudes with no life on a power trip.)
I'm afraid I don't know that, but if all else fails then there are other similar controls to fall back on:

I have used this before and seem to recall it was really good:
PowerComboBox with CheckBoxes & Grouping[^]

and here's another I haven't tried:
CheckBox ComboBox Extending the ComboBox Class and Its Items[^]

Good luck
