I have a new Visual Studio 2008 project, whose Target platform is Windows CE

I wanted to verify that, if possible, the Target .NET Framework is set to what I am hoping: .NET 2.0 (not .NET 1.1).

Yet, when I select Project > Properties > Application tab, the "Target Framework" dropdown is almost as grey as a grey squirrel and paler than pale ale (read-only/greyed out).

Why?

Is it because I have no choice, and (egads!) .NET 1.1 is the only available framework for a project whose Target platform is Windows CE?

Odd that (based on Richard Deeming's link) it doesn't show you a value; greyed out is one thing, but veiling the value is another.

According to this thread[^], there is no facility to change the target framework. However, if you select "Upgrade project" from the project menu, you should be able to select a newer framework version.
