Why are you not asking the author of the code?

Never post your email address in any forum, unless you really like spam! If anyone replies to you, you will receive an email to let you know

okay

I suppose there is no problem in doing that (I did that once). However check out the article license and be sure to mention the original article in your one.

Carlos, that is probably not the best solution: the CPOL explicitly prevents republication without the direct and explicit consent of the author.

But it would be a quite different article and full acknowledge to the author of the original one would be given. I see that as a service to the original one.
It will depend on the licencing conditions attached with the article. Most articles here are covered by the CPOL which allows you to use and modify the source code, but explicitly states:

The Articles discussing the Work published in any form by the author may not be distributed or republished without the Author's consent. The author retains copyright to any such Articles. You may use the Executable Files and Source Code pursuant to this License but you may not repost or republish or otherwise distribute or make available the Articles, without the prior written consent of the Author.

The best route is to ask the author: If they grant permission then you have no problem.
