I usually put my source code on the company server using SVN Tortoise.

I went on a business trip and came back with new code. So I tried to upload that into the server.

I get an error saying that I should run Update before I commit.

But that doesn't make any sense.

All that does is merge my latest files with what's in the server, thereby mangling my code into some weird alien, then committing that file to the server.

Why can't I just tell the bloody thing that I, a person, knows which files are up to date and should be the latest file, and stop messing me about?

Is there any way of overriding the tortoise's brain?

Thanks for help in advance.

PS I should note that I am the only developer of the code in question, so the version on the server hasn't changed since I left for my business trip.

This is really an SVN question. SVN is crap.
