Dear all,
Can you please explain the process that YouTube follow? Please answer the following questions.

1-does youtube store the video as binary in database or just the path of the video (and place the video in a folder on server)?

2-Do all stored videos having the same extension, if yes what is it (convert all videos while uploading)?

3-Do they compress the video before uploading it.?

ok guys lets make some changes on the question: instead of youtube i am asking for the best practice of the above three questions for developing website that upload and play videos

You'll have to ask youtube how they do this. We cannot see how they are doing what you are asking.
