Doubt in secure connection for mysql

I had develop one windows form application, which having one registration form.
My Back End is XAMPP's MYSQL, which is in online.
If I register information in my window application the information sends to the server is protection-less(insecure).

Then How to secure the information?
Is Possible to use SSL Certificate means please give me the full steps to implement.

Please help me,,,,,!
