Android app that connects Opencart site

Hi. I know this is a pretty generic question. But I just want some guidance or atleast some idea to start with.
I have an open cart site. Now I want to develop an Android app that will show my products & enables to take order & update database of opencart site.

Basically is this possible? And if yes then how can I connect & read/write opencart site's database from my android app? Any suggestions? Thank you.

DO they expose any APIs to access opencart db? You need this to connect to the db thru android.
