MySQL server has gone away error

i had code with mysql_close(); written at bottom of page, when i run code i get error MySQL server has gone away error.

When i comment line mysql_close(); , it works fine.

What could be problem ?

When you get an error message you don't understand, the first thing to do is paste it into Google and see what it says.
Google: MySQL server has gone away[^]
This lists a number of reasons, which should help. Without your coffee, we can't do any more than that!
