Do you get any error on your server when you run the website you have created on your local machine in PHP 5.3.1 ? I am sure, you will see no error.

It seems to me that the operative words are this version of Joomla.

Um, get a version of Joomla that _is_ compatible with the version of PHP your hosting company uses..

Visit this page and choose the appropriate version of Joomla perhaps... Presumably one of these: 2.5.x, 1.7.x or 1.6.x
