Map Area of drawer is not working in IE8

Hi,

We are developing Web UI using HTML and not HTML5 and we have implemented drawer functionality using MAP and AREA. It is Text and there is a separator as image and again text and image as a separator. When we mouse over it in chrome and Mozilla it works fine but in IE8 when mouse pointer comes to an image (i.e. on separator) drawer goes off. Is there any way to handle it in CSS or HTML? Pls suggest.
